Scouting
I was in Scouting from 2021 to 2026. During my years in Scouting, I completed 24 merit badges, accumulated over 70 service hours, and had 28 camping nights. I served in various leadership positions within my troop such as instructor, chaplain's aide, and patrol leader. I went on excursions with my troop such as boating, hiking, biking, and backpacking, and I even went overseas to represent my troop internationally at the 2025 Norway National Jamboree. I also completed an Eagle Scout project where I 3D printed signs to help my elementary school label their trees and built a map to label the locations of the trees and plants.Â
By the People
For the past 2 and a half years, I have volunteered online with the Library of Congress, where I transcribed primary source documents to help preserve them in online archives. Many of these documents came from the correspondence of people like Leonard Bernstein and President Teddy Roosevelt. Seeing these original documents helped me see what life was like for people in US history; what they ate, how they advocated for their rights, and what they went through during times of turmoil. Transcribing these documents also made me focus on details, such as preserving original spelling and margins in my transcriptions. By analyzing these documents, I helped preserve primary sources and keep stories alive for future generations
Hiller Aviation
I have volunteered at Hiller Aviation, my local aviation museum, for the past two years, and during my time there, I have helped out with multiple visitor experiences such as the drone simulators, an arts and crafts lab for children, and a real 747 cockpit. I have also helped the museum set up for members' events. In the spring semester of my junior year, I secured a two-week internship at the museum through a school program where I helped the museum organize their inventory for its summer camp and design training for prospective counselors.
YVAC
In my junior year, I served on San Mateo County's Youth Voting Advisory Committee (YVAC). I served on the Digital Outreach Subcommittee, which ran a social media account dedicated to encouraging eligible youth to pre-register to vote. I also engaged in civic education efforts at my own school when I put up posters educating my classmates on how to preregister
Levantar
In the fall semester of my junior year, I managed to secure an internship at Levantar, a faith-based nonprofit in Redwood City dedicated to supporting immigrant families in Redwood City. During my internship, I helped create flyers for community events, helped tutor kids with their homework, and designed packets focused on reading, writing, and math for students from kindergarten to 8th grade. After my internship was over, I continued to volunteer by teaching younger kids how to play guitar.
